Ty and Troy

A couple things came out of Tyrone Willingham’s daily media briefing. He said that Robert Lewis has a broken foot and said Gottlieb and Williams could be out 2-to-4 weeks. He said sophomore Walt Winter would move from defensive end to tight end to provide some depth. He would not say what the depth chart behind Johnie Kirton (Tim Williams, Tim Harris and Winter) looks like.
The only other news is that cornerback Jordan Murchison did not play last week because of a flare up of an old knee injury, and it’s unknown if the junior college transfer would travel this week.
There is also significant news out of USC, where starting free safety Josh Pinkard will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. Here’s the story from ESPN http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2574730
With Pinkard out, there’s a good chance that true freshman Taylor Mays from O’Dea High School will take over the starting job. USC coach Pete Carroll said as much during the Pac-10 teleconference today, saying Mays was the No. 3 safety on the team and could start.
