Kenny Gets Some Ink

The Husky running game has been in the news this week, as Washington ranks a surprising ninth in the nation in rushing offense. And the Fresno Bee also has a story about the UW running game, specifically Kenny James, who is from nearby Dos Palos and seriously considered attending Fresno State.

Here’s the link: http://www.fresnobee.com/sports/bulldogs/story/12708658p-13405676c.html

The reporter talked to James as well as his high school coach and sister, among others, and it’s a good read. Apparently James’ family cried when he picked Washington over Fresno, and not out of joy.

Hopefully you saw our brief in the paper today about Stanford losing receiver Mark Bradford to injury. That’s a huge blow to a team that is starting to look like the worst in the Pac-10. It means that opponents will be able to focus even more attention on 6-7 receiver Evan Moore, especially if the Cardinal continue to not be able to run the ball.

And here’s a story from the AP via ESPN http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2585341 about another injury blow to USC, this time to starting defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis. Ellis hurt his knee Monday and had surgery Tuesday and is expected to miss several weeks. Ellis is the third starter – along with fullback Brandon Hancock and safety Josh Pinkard – to go down with injury. These certainly will hurt the Trojans, though not as much as it would hurt most teams, as this is the advantage of having among the nation’s top recruiting classes the last few years. USC will just slide in another high school All-American to take the spot. But Ellis and the others were starters for reasons, and so they will surely be missed.
