Catching Up

Didn’t have a chance to update the blog yesterday, so here’s a little of what I missed:

Tyrone Willingham didn’t have much to say on Thursday, and there is nothing new from a personnel standpoint. So the Husky team we see tomorrow will be the same one we saw last week, at least from the standpoint of who will be out there.

I couldn’t find anything on Fresno State football today, but here’s Thursday’s notebook from the Fresno Bee: http://www.fresnobee.com/sports/bulldogs/story/12713216p-13409921c.html

The lead talks about Tom Brandstater, Fresno’s sophomore quarterback who has played pretty well this season. It sounds like the Bulldogs will be trying to throw deep a little more, and that shouldn’t come as a surprise as the UW has struggled to stop any form of passing. Fresno has one of the best running backs in the nation, but it’s going to do what it has to do to win, and until the Huskies show they can stop the pass, expect everyone to put the ball in the air against them. There’s also an injury report and at the end, a short item on Fresno coach Pat Hill being upset at North Carolina State coach Chuck Amato over some comments Amato made about Fresno’s admissions policy. In typical Hill fashion, he challenged NC State to play Fresno. One thing you have to admire about the Bulldogs is they are one of the few non-BCS teams who will regularly play BCS foes, and beat them.

Also, if you caught my story earlier in fall camp about Alex Mercier and his involvement in the Soulumination charity which helps terminally ill kids, you may want to tune in to Evening Magazine tonight. The show, which I believe airs at 7 p.m. on NBC, will have a segment about the charity and the Husky Nation Project. According to Soulumnation founder Lynette Johnson, the piece will also be show on the replay screen at Husky Stadium prior to Saturday’s game.
