Snohomish, Kamiak amass state times

MUKILTEO — The boys of the Snohomish swim team found the pool at Kamiak High much to their liking.
So much so, four swimmers and three relay teams recorded state Class 4A qualifying times in the Panthers’ 101-85 victory over the Knights in a non-league meet Thursday.
“I always like swimming at Kamiak,” Snohomish head coach Rob Serviss said. “It’s a great pool.”
The host Knights also qualified three relay teams for state — two setting school records in the process — and Chris Lynch recorded a state time while finishing second in the 100 breaststroke.
Four Snohomish swimmers — Logan Goodman, Garren Riechel, Eric Pedack and Bryan Harvey — recorded state times in both individual events and as members of winning relay teams.
“Everyone knows about Eric (Pedack) and Garren (Riechel),” Serviss said. “(Thursday) a lot of the guys people don’t know about had big days. Bryan (Harvey) was a big part of what we did … Logan (Goodman) also came up huge for us.”
Almost lost in the flurry of state times from the visitors was the record-setting second-place finishes of Kamiak’s 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams. Each qualified for state and surpassed the previous school mark by more than two seconds, according to Knights head coach Chris Erickson.
