Boys hoops: Meadowdale clinches top Wesco seed

LYNNWOOD — Seniors Evan Matteson and Paul Werner each had 14 points to led the Meadowdale boys basketball team to a 69-59 victory over Arlington Thursday night at Meadowdale High School.

The victory clinched the No. 1 seed for the Mavericks in the Class 3A District 1 playoffs, where three teams from the Northwest League and five from the Western Conference will vie for two state tournament berths.

Meadowdale plays Everett, the No. 5 seed, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Meadowdale High School in an opening-round game. No. 2 Arlington plays No. 3 Ferndale at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington High School.
