Second-half surge lifts Shorewood

EVERETT — Team captain Alex Bresnan scored two second-half goals to lead Shorewood to a 3-1 season-opening Wesco South victory Tuesday night.
“It was good to start off a win tonight,” Shorewood coach Mark Wisdon said. “Once we got are game on, we were able to handle their long ball attack,”
Mariner and Shorewood played to a 1-1 first-half tie at Goddard Stadium.
Mauraders’ Rodrigo Araiza opened the scoring in the 16th minute off an Abdi Mohamed assist. Shorewood’s Sam Olson answered in the 34th minute on a Tim Aspinall assist.
Bresnan scored in the 42nd and 54th minutes to seal the victory for the Thunderbirds.
