Mountlake Terrace limits Lynnwood to 2 hits in Wesco South win

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Lynnwood learned a valuable lesson Tuesday night: Its pretty hard to win a softball game when you get just two hits.

“That’s our only weakness right now,” Lynnwood head coach Rachel Sullivan said. “We need to get the bats going.”

Mountlake Terrace starting pitcher Kori Seidlitz threw 14 strikeouts in six innings and Terrace took its first Wesco South victory of the season by defeating visiting Lynnwood 4-1.

Seidlitz got the win despite being knocked out of the game briefly: A pitch ricocheted off her thumb in the fourth, forcing sister Kelsi to pitch the fifth. Kori returned in the sixth to finish off Lynnwood.

Chelsea Crews and Kayla Watson each had an RBI for Terrace, off-setting a pair of doubles by Lynnwood’s Jerrica Kang and Kelsey Parker.

Julia Nealer pitched all seven innings for Lynnwood and finished with seven strikeouts.

“We’re a solid defensive team (and) we’ve got a great pitcher,” Sullivan said. “I think we can do better than the preseason polls (eighth).”
