MARYSVILLE — In a tightly contested game, the Cedarcrest Red Wolves had a first-half bounce go their way to defeat Lakewood 1-0 Tuesday in a Cascade Conference battle of unbeaten teams.
In the 20th minute, Cedarcrest midfielder R.J. Sorenson won a through ball, took a shot and had it saved by Lakewood keeper Peter Karrenberg. But Karrenberg’s save bounced right back to Sorenson, who found the net on the second chance for the game’s only goal.
“Both teams played hard,” Cedarcrest coach Zack Pittis said. “We were were fortunate to get a lucky bounce.”
The Cougars fell to 3-1 in Cascade Conference play and 5-1 overall. Cedarcrest improved to 3-0 and 5-0.
Pittis was very pleased with the road victory.
