Edmonds-Woodway wins key meet with 3-set win at No. 3 doubles

SHORELINE — It was about as close as a tennis meet could be.
After being tied 3-3 going into the final match, Edmonds-Woodway’s No. 3 doubles team of Alex Fredrickson and Will Henson edged out Shorewood’s Adam Kaiman and Dan Gnanapragasam 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 to take the Wesco South victory on Friday at Shoreview Park.
“(Shorewood) was killing us in the singles and we were doing well in the doubles,” E-W coach Dan Crist said. “I knew we had to win one singles match.”
Friday’s meet was the only time this season the two teams will play each other.
“It was a coin toss: two close teams battling it out,” said Crist. “It’s unfortunate when two close teams don’t get to play the maximum number of times.”
