Prep girls basketball: Fourth-quarter effort leads to Oak Harbor victory
Published 11:27 pm Friday, January 30, 2009
LAKE STEVENS — Both Oak Harbor and Lake Stevens struggled to put the ball in the basket on Friday night, but in the end Oak Harbor was able to prevail in the Wesco North girls basketball game behind an inspired fourth quarter, 44-34.
“It was a struggle to score offensively for both groups,” Lake Stevens coach Randy Edens said. “They got it going in the fourth quarter.
Oak Harbor’s head coach, Brett McLeod was ejected in the third quarter, which Edens said seemed to inspire Oak Harbor to victory.
Oak Harbor shot 10-for-14 from the free-throw line, to help it to the 10-point victory.
“It was ugly,” Edens said. “The coaches on both sides would probably not put this as one of their favorites.”
