MUKILTEO — Thanks to their singles players, the Kamiak girls could afford to lose a doubles match or two.
Kamiak won all four of its singles matches en route to a narrow 4-3 Wesco South girls tennis victory over Meadowdale Thursday at Kamiak High School.
Kamiak’s No. 1 singles player, Elaine Baik, defeated Meadowdale’s Olivia Bates 6-0, 6-0, No. 2 singles Audrey Lee and No. 4 singles Veronica Ahn each won their matches 6-4, 6-4 and freshman Annie Yang (No. 3 singles) pulled out a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Natalie Buslach.
Meadowdale countered by winning all three of the doubles matches.
Meadowdale’s three victories were highlighted by No. 3 doubles partners, Britteny Morgan and Olivia Hovde, pulling off a marathon 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) victory over Joyce Kim and Angela Oh.
Kamiak improved to 3-1 overall. Meadowdale fell to 1-1 overall.
