Scots’ Robbins fans 16

LYNNWOOD — Shorecrest pitcher James Robbins sat alone in the dugout between innings and his teammates honored his space as he focused on a no-hit performance, said Scots head baseball coach Alan Bruns.
In fact, Robbins was perfect through five innings.
The left-hander lost his no-hit bid in the sixth inning with a high-bouncing base hit over third, but finished the game with 16 strikeouts for Shorecrest in an 8-0 Wesco South win over Meadowdale.
“It was the most dominant performance I’ve seen,” Bruns said.
Robbins, a senior and Washington State University commit, had all his pitches working and focused command of the strike zone, Bruns said.
As if 16 strikeouts wasn’t impressive enough, Robbins struck out 12 Meadowdale batters in a row; he struck out the side in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings.
“I’ve never seen anything like that before,” Bruns said. “He was lights out.”
It took just 95 pitches (79 strikes) for Robbins to take care of Meadowdale and he lowered his earned-run average to a miniscule 0.91.
Robbins’ record stands at 3-1 with 40 strikeouts and just four walks.
Bruns said Robbins is scheduled to take the mound again on Tuesday, at home versus Mountlake Terrace.
