PREP ROUNDUP: Glacier Peak’s Neale 1st at South Whidbey cross country Invite

LANGLEY — Glacier Peak freshman Amy-Eloise Neale continued to impress Saturday, winning the girls Division 1 race of the South Whidbey Invitational with a time of 18 minutes, 16.05 seconds.
Neale’s time was 34 seconds better than Northwest Christian’s Maddie Meyers, who finished second.
This year’s South Whidbey invitational was a tribute to former South Whidbey cross country and track and field coach Carl Westling, who passed away earlier this year.
Glacier Peak and Stanwood were the only Wesco schools to claim top-10 finishes. Neale was joined in the top 10 by teammate Katie Bianchini, also a freshman. Bianchini finished ninth with a time of 19:15.95. Stanwood’s Minna Fields finished fouth (19:06.89) and teammate Natasha Verma was seventh (19:15.58).
The Wesco conference was well represented in the top 10 of the boys Division 1 race. Eight of the the top 10 runners were from the Wesco, led by runnerup Mitchell Briggs of Jackson with a time of 15:58.47. Oak Harbor’s Tyler King finished third, right on Briggs’ tail with a time of 15:59.46.
Arlington’s James Clark won the Division 2 boys race with a time of 16:53.35. Lake Stevens’ Samantha Minor was the girls Division 2 winner with a time of 19:37.15.

Andrew Moisant (Eric Moisant) scored in the 32nd minute and Beau Butaud (E. Moisant) scored in the 39th minute for Providence Classical Christian (1-1 overall). Luke Morris was the goalie for PCC, as was Kent Schmuland for BC.
Girls soccer
Coupeville 5, Concrete 1: At Concrete, Catlin Phillips scored in the fourth, 28th, and 72nd minutes, Emily Burchfield scored in the 42nd minute and Courtney Boyd added a goal in the 48th minute to lead Coupeville to the non-conference victory. Becca Wood scored for Concrete in the 62nd minute. Megan Smith was the goalkeeper for Coupeville (2-2 overall), as was Lonna Lloyd for Concrete (0-7).
Blaine 7, Sultan 4: At Sultan, Jessica McCann scored two goals, and Aide Lopez and Cassie Gress each had one goal for Sultan in the non-conference loss. Blaine’s goalscorers were not reported. Bronte Absalon was the goalkeeper for Sultan (0-3 overall), as was Anna Hewitt for Blaine (2-3).
Meadowdale 6, Lynnwood 1: At Lynnwood, in non-conference action, Christina Mah scored the lone goal for Lynnwood (1-3-0 overall). Julia Fjortoft had two goals for Meadowdale. Erin Wyatt, Brittany Evarts, Alisa Sagdahl and Kari Beaulieu also had goals for the Mavericks (2-1-1).
