EVERETT — It was the Megan Bolmes show for Jackson on Thursday night in its 2-0 Wesco South win over Glacier Peak — with an assist from the defense.

After a scoreless first half, Bolmes gave Jackson the lead in the 45th minute (Ellen Favale assist), then, with a second goal, she put the game away in the 77th minute (Cara Wegner).

“She really stepped up in the second half,” Jackson coach Mike Bartley said.

Despite Bolmes great offensive game, Bartley gave the most credit to the defense.

“The defense has five shutouts in a row, that’s why we are 5-0 in league,” Bartley said. “Our backline has just been outstanding, as has our goalkeeping.”

Bartley said the game was very competitive, with Glacier Peak having several opportunities to score on corner kicks.

“They had three or four corners that were very dangerous that just missed,” Bartley said.

But Bolmes’ late goal put the game away for the Timberwolves.

“It was pretty exciting all the way until we scored that goal,” Bartley said. “It kind of sealed the game.”

Kayla Beer and KC Wilson split time in goal for Jackson (5-0-0 league, 11-0-1 overall), Beer playing the first half and Wilson playing the second. Nicole Giovine was the goalkeeper for Glacier Peak (3-2-0, 8-3-1).
