FEDERAL WAY — Archbishop Murphy’s Alec Barnard achieved two state championships — setting meet records in both events — Saturday during the finals of the 2A state meet at the King County Aquatics Center.
Barnard, a sophomore, won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 43.17 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 51.47.
Coupeville’s Cole Weinstei was the only other Cascade Conference placer, finishing sixth in the 500 freestyle in 5:03.32, about a half-minute behind event champion Steve Sholdra of Renton, who set a meet record with an All-America consideration time of 4:35.66.
