Spring chinook update

A late Columbia River run of spring chinook, delayed by cold, turbid water conditions on the big river, has finally started moving upstream. State biologist Joe Hymer in Vancouver said recreational catches are improving at both the mouth of the Wind River and Drano Lake (mouth of the Little White Salmon), where creel checkers found better than a fish per boat average at times last week and over the weekend. Some 120 boats were counted at the Wind River on Sunday, and about 100 at Drano Lake, Hymer said.
