Columbia sockeye and ocean salmon

A good, but crowded, sockeye fishery below Wells Dam on the Columbia is heating up, but remains slow above the dam in the Brewster Pool. Chances of a sockeye fishery in Lake Wenatchee are slim.
On the coast, salmon fishing remains good, with state creel checks last week showing 1.05 fish per rod at Ilwaco, 88 percent coho; 1.2 per rod at Westport, about an equal split coho-chinook; 1.15 at La Push, and 1.43 at Neah Bay.
