By the numbers
THREE: Straight victories to start the season by the Edmonds-Woodway boys basketball team. Senior guard Grant Pattison scored 12 points to lead the Warriors to a 49-44 win over Lynnwood on Nov. 29 and then put up 14 points as Edmonds-Woodway knocked off Hazen 65-60 on Nov. 30. Junior guard Devin Joseph scored 13 points as the Warriors downed Sultan 63-42 on Dec. 2.
What to watch this week
1. Meadowdale/Snohomish wrestling: The Mavericks take on the Panthers in a non-conference match at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at Meadowdale High School. Meadowdale is led by Dustin Diemond (138 pounds) and Morgan Smith (145).
2. Mountlake Terrace/Shorecrest boys basketball: The Hawks face the Scots at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 9 at Mountlake Terrace High School. So far different players have stepped up for Mountlake Terrace. Marquis Armstead scored 19 points in a season-opening 57-41 win over Inglemoor and Ryan Shannon had 22 points in a 76-32 rout over Lynnwood. Shorecrest’s top players include Emmanuel Chibuogwu and Dylan Pontrello.
3. Lynnwood/Shorewood girls basketball: The Royals meet the Thunderbirds at 7:15 p.m. Dec. 9 at Shorewood High School. A balanced offensive attack has Lynnwood off to a 2-1 start. Four players scored in double figures in a 64-58 win over Jackson and three players were in double figures in a 72-36 rout of Mountlake Terrace. Shorewood’s Masha Shtikel scored 15 and 10 points in losses to Ferndale and Stanwood.
