Lynda V. Mapes

5-8 p.m. July 20, Edmonds Bookshop

The author, a Seattle Times environment reporter, will talk about and sign copies of her new book “Witness Tree: Seasons of Change with a Century-Old Oak” at 111 Fifth Ave. S. The story is an intimate look at this majestic oak tree through four seasons — and the reality of global climate change that it reveals. To learn more about the book and read the blog that Mapes kept while she hung out with the tree, go to lyndavmapes.com.

Brenda Fantroy-Johnson

Noon July 29, Edmonds Bookshop

The Seattle author will talk about, read from and sign copies of her new paperback book, “Imagine Me.” It is a memoir of sorts, the story of a young black girl growing up in the early 1960s in Detroit at the height of the Civil Rights Movement.
