EVERETT — After a long stint on the bereavement list, Mariners’ No. 16 prospect Juan Then is rejoining the AquaSox rotation on Monday.

Then made three starts for Everett before heading back to the Dominican Republic, compiling a 3.21 ERA. Then made a two-inning appearance in the Arizona Rookie League, striking out two over two clean innings.

The right-hander will be limited and eased back into action after not pitching for three weeks, according to Everett manager Louis Boyd.

Everett now has a de facto 10-man rotation, with five starters and five piggyback pitchers to complement them.

Deivy Florido is slated to follow Mariners’ first-round pick George Kirby on Sunday. Either Damon Casetta-Stubbs or Kelvin Nunez will start on Tuesday with the other following. The same goes for Jorge Benitez and Tim Elliott on Wednesday. Brandon Williamson, the Mariners’ second-round pick, is slated for Thursday with Juan Mercedes to follow.

Campbell in Everett

Isaiah Campbell, the Mariners selection in the competitive balance B round (76th overall) reported to Everett on July 10, but won’t throw for the AquaSox this season.

“He’s just going to be here to soak it up, be around other players,” Everett pitching coach Ari Ronick said. “From the physical piece, he won’t pitch this season. But he’s a solid guy in the clubhouse, he’s here to learn, he’s asking questions every day. I know he wants to be out there every day, so it’s hard for him to sit back and watch all of his teammates compete.”

Although it’s tough not to pitch, Campbell said he’s thrilled to be around some of his fellow draft picks this season.

“It’s different, because I’m used to pitching and everything” Campbell said. “Just for me, it’s about getting in the weight room, getting stronger and getting some conditioning in. Just play some light catch and get to know some of these guys, because these are some of the guys I’ll be going up through the organization with.”

Transactions

Then, Robert Perez, Fred Villarreal and Deivy Florido were reassigned to Everett after spending the series at Vancouver in the AZL.

■ Adam Macko, 18, and Brayan Perez, 19, were sent back to the AZL after spot duty with the AquaSox. Macko pitched two scoreless innings while Perez allowed three runs on 3.2 innings for the Sox.
