Williamson strikes out 13, AquaSox roll past Canadians

HILLSBORO, Ore. — Brandon Williamson struck out 13 batters, Zach DeLoach homered and the visiting Everett AquaSox rolled to a 9-1 win over the Vancouver Canadians on Saturday night.

Williamson, a 2019 second-round draft pick by the Seattle Mariners, allowed just one run and two hits in 7.1 strong innings pitched. The 6-foot-6 left-hander struck out 13 of the 25 batters he faced and yielded only one walk.

Williamson threw a rare immaculate inning in the third inning, meaning he struck out all three batters in the frame on a total of just nine pitches. It was the first immaculate inning by an AquaSox pitcher since Nick Hill accomplished the feat in 2007, according to Everett play-by-play announcer Pat Dillon.

The AquaSox (15-8) jumped to a big lead early on with two runs in the first inning and five more runs in the second. They stretched their lead to 9-1 in the fourth.

DeLoach, a second-round pick in last year’s draft, went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI double. Joseph Rosa was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Patrick Frick drove in three runs for Everett. Every batter in the AquaSox’s lineup had at least one hit.

Vancouver (14-9) mustered just three hits.

Everett has won three of five games in the series. The series finale is Sunday afternoon.
