Family escapes but pets die in Darrington house fire

DARRINGTON — A family escaped a house fire but their pets died early Thursday morning in Darrington.

Flames were reported around 1:30 a.m. at the home in the 1100 block of Darrington Street. Darrington Fire District crews found the home engulfed and worked to keep the fire from spreading to cars and a garage.

The home was destroyed.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office was investigating.
