1 killed, 1 hurt after train-truck collision

STANWOOD — One person was killed and another seriously injured after a collision involving a train and a farm truck north of Stanwood on Tuesday night.

The crash was reported about 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of 92nd Ave NW and Pioneer Highway, said Shari Ireton, a spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

“The truck had attempted to cross the tracks when it was hit by the train,” she said. Both people in the truck were believed to be male. The injured party was taken via ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The other died at the scene.

No other details were provided Tuesday.
