EVERETT — A Hoodsport man led a Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy on a chase Wednesday morning until his getaway car gave out on him.
Just before 5 a.m., a deputy noticed a car speeding out of a car dealership on Gibson Road and Highway 99. The deputy lost sight of the car, but spotted it a short time later near Beverly Park Road and Airport Road.
The deputy tried to stop the car but the driver wouldn’t pull over, sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. He led the deputy on a chase until the vehicle’s tires blew out on Seaway Boulevard.
The man hopped out of the car and ran to nearby Boeing property. Deputies quickly caught up with the running man and arrested him. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of attempting to elude police. He also had a suspended license.
Deputies learned that someone had been breaking into cars at the dealership, Hover said. That investigation is on going.
