Elderly woman found safe after she wandered off

MUKILTEO – A woman who walked away from an adult family home Tuesday was found safe about 11 hours later.

A Mukilteo police officer who was searching for the woman, 74, spotted her about 1 a.m. Wednesday about a mile outside of the city. She was walking along W. Mukilteo Boulevard near Elm Street, Mukilteo police Cmdr. Chuck Macklin said.

The woman, who suffers from dementia, had been missing since about 2:30 p.m. Police, firefighters, Snohomish County Volunteer Search and Rescue crews and a helicopter from King County searched for the woman through the night.

“Thankfully it was warmer last night than it has been,” Macklin said. “We’re thankful she was safe.”

The woman wasn’t able to tell police where she had been or what she had been doing, Macklin said.

She was evaluated by firefighters and released to her son and daughter-in-law.

Woodway: Police seek man who shot at driver

Police continue to search for a man who fired a gun at a woman Saturday.

The victim, 22, was returning home about 5 a.m. when she noticed two men in the garage in the 24100 block of W. Greystone Lane. One of the men fired a gun into her windshield, Mountlake Terrace police Sgt. Mark Connor said. The bullet hit the steering column, stopping it from striking the woman. She drove off and called police.

It is unclear why the man shot at the woman.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Mountlake Terrace Police Department at 425-670-8260.

Arlington: Girls report man tried to lure them

Police are alerting the public about a man who may have tried to lure two girls into his vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

A pair of 11-year-old girls told investigators they were walking home about 4 p.m. when a man in a pickup offered to give them a ride, police said. The man reportedly followed the girls a few blocks, then parked and watched them walk away, police said.

The man is described as white and heavy-set, with gray hair and hazel eyes. He was wearing a blue and black plaid shirt, a tan jacket and tan pants. He was reportedly driving a late-model gold Toyota pickup with a silver toolbox in the bed.

Anyone with information can call the Arlington Police Department at 360-403-3400.
