EVERETT — Naval Station Everett was closed Wednesday morning when a “suspicious package” was reported on the base, according to a press release.

Explosive specialists inspected the package and found it wasn’t a threat, the Navy announced just before 12:30 p.m.

Around 9:40 a.m., the base activated the emergency response. Emergency responders were on scene. Everyone on the base was asked to shelter in place, according to the Navy.

Base gates were closed in the morning as explosive ordinance disposal specialists inspected the package.

After the examination found no threat, the shelter in place order was relaxed. Normal operations were resumed.
