MARYSVILLE — A woman who left a Walmart store with a basket full of unpaid merchandise early Sunday morning was injured after the car she fled in drove into a metal cable in the parking lot at Marysville Getchell High School.
The woman walked out of the store 8713 64th St. NE about 2 a.m. with unpaid merchandise, said Sgt.Pete Shove, with the Marysville Police Department.
When confronted by the store manager, the woman reportedly threatened to use a stun gun on the manager.
The woman loaded the merchandise into a car driven by a man. The store manager called police.
Police attempted to stop the car, but it drove off up 83rd Avenue NE to 84th Street NE with police in pursuit. After the car crashed into the cable in the school’s parking lot, the man and woman were temporarily trapped in the car and it caught fire, Shove said.
They were rescued and taken by ambulance to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.
The case remains under investigation, Shove said.
