EVERETT — The Marysville Parks Board and Planning Commission is seeking volunteers to fill two open positions, a press release said.
The city’s Parks, Culture and Recreation Advisory Board has an open position with a term ending in February 2027. The Marysville Planning Commission vacancy is to complete a term ending in August 2026.
Candidates must live in Marysville and email a letter of interest and resume to cityclerk@merysvillewa.gov by Dec. 12. The email’s subject line should read either ‘Parks Board application’ or ‘Planning Commission application.’ Applications may also be mailed to the city clerk, 501 Delta Ave., Marysville, WA 98270.
Applicants must pass a criminal background check. If chosen, members will be appointed by Mayor Jon Nehring and confirmed by the City Council.
The previous members in both positions resigned, spokesperson Connie Mennie said in an email. The Planning Commission incumbent is moving out of state and the Parks Board incumbent has served for many years, but did not state a reason in his letter of resignation.
The Parks Board meets at 5 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every odd-numbered month. It advises the Parks, Culture and Recreation department and the City Council on long-range planning and develops operating rules and policies.
The Planning Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. It advises the mayor and City Council on land-use issues.
