Mountlake Terrace High School for a seventh time and the fifth consecutive year won a First Amendment Press Freedom Award, sponsored by the Journalism Education Association, National Scholastic Press Association and Quill and Scroll Society. The award was presented to students in April at the JEA/NSPA National Journalism Convention in San Francisco.

The convention also featured other honors. Jacob Allard, Ciara Laney and Marianne Nacanaynay each earned “excellent” ratings for photography and yearbook work.
