EVERETT — Law enforcement rescued a teenage girl and arrested a suspect wanted in two states on multiple felony charges during a multi-state human trafficking investigation that involved two motels on Highway 99.
Toward the end of November, the Problem Solving Emphasis Team located and arrested the 30-year-old California man, according to an Edmonds Police Department social media post. The suspect was wanted in Oakland, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada, on charges surrounding kidnapping, child abuse and sex trafficking of a minor.
During the investigation, law enforcement determined the suspect had control over a 17-year-old female, the post said. Law enforcement recovered the victim, who is receiving care while arrangements are made for her return home.
Law enforcement booked the suspect into the Snohomish County Jail.
According to the post, the investigation involved tactical planning, use of local and regional resources, cooperation from local businesses and assistance from Lynnwood and Kirkland Police Departments’ plainclothes teams with surveillance.
