Where to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Snohomish County in 2026

EVERETT — Starting Sunday, organizations will hold free events to honor Martin Luther King Jr. for the federal holiday, which lands on Monday.
Here is a list of those events.
Sunday Celebration, Everett
The Greater Everett Area Community Celebration has been held each year in Everett for more than 30 years. The two-day event, put on by the Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee, will be held under the theme “Building Community: The Dream & The Work.” The Sunday event will take place 4-6 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 2936 Rockefeller Ave. in Everett. Dr. Yvonne Terrell-Powell, vice president of equity, inclusion and belonging at Edmonds College, will speak and the Greater Everett MLK Celebration Choir will perform. Winners of the Prodigies for Peace Writing and Art Contest will be featured.
Day of Service, Marysville
Marysville is inviting residents to take a “day on, not a day off,” on Monday. Three organizations in the city are offering ways for volunteers to give back.
- The Marysville Community Food Bank needs volunteers to stock food, clean and support clients 8:30-11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m at 4150 88th St. NE. Register at marysvillefoodbank.org/volunteer and note MLK Jr. Day of Service.
- Removing litter and invasive species 9 a.m. to noon at Twin Lakes Park, 16324 Twin Lakes Ave. Volunteers will need to sign in with staff at the park. Those under 18 will need a signed waiver from a parent.
- Volunteers can help the Marysville Historical Society with landscaping, maintenance and historical file organization 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 6805 Armar Road. Sign in required upon arrival.
Day of Service, Lynnwood
On Monday, volunteers are meeting 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lynnwood Senior Center, 19000 44th Ave. W to clean and repair the Mesika Trail.
YMCA Day of Service, Countywide
All six Snohomish County YMCA branches are offering ways for volunteers to take a day on instead of a day off. The branches are located in Everett, Marysville, Mill Creek, Monroe, Mukilteo and Stanwood. Go to ymca-snoco.org/mlk/ for details.
Volunteers can also help clean up downed trees and branches from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday at YMCA Camp Casey, 1276 Engle Road in Coupeville. The meeting point is at the archery range.
Annual MLK Tribute, Edmonds
Lift Every Voice Legacy is sponsoring the annual MLK event 9:30-11:30 a.m Monday at the Edmonds Waterfront Center, 220 Railroad Ave. The event, titled “Love Demands Justice,” will include dancing, games, children’s book readings and youth performances.
Until Thursday, the Edmonds Bookshop — located at 111 Fifth Ave. S — is holding a book drive. Every book donated will be given away at the event on Monday.
March & Rally, Everett
The Snohomish County Black Heritage Committee will also hold a march and rally on Monday as part of the two-day celebration. They will take place 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The march will start at the Everett Memorial Stadium, 3900 Broadway in Everett, and the rally will take place at the Volunteers of America Western Washington Carl Gipson Center, 3025 Lombard Ave. in Everett.
