Everett boys track

The senior won both hurdles races in personal-best times and ran a leg on the winning 1,600-meter relay team to lead Everett to its second straight team championship at the Eason Invitational.

Kincaid ran the 110 hurdles in 15.19 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 39.87 seconds.

“He stepped up huge at the Eason,” Everett coach Doug Hall said. “It was an inspiring performance.

“When he showed up before the meet he said, ‘Are you ready to see a school record?’ Well, he didn’t get the school record, but he got two PRs.”

This is Kincaid’s second season of high school track. He has been hurdling less than a year.

“You have to give a lot of the credit to our hurdles coach, Kelly Clapp (also the girls head coach). … She’s awesome,” Hall said.

Despite his short time with the team, Kincaid was voted a team captain this season.

“He’s a great leader,” Hall said. “It was nice to see him have a breakout performance.

“He was a little frustrated at the Pasco Invite (April 23). He hit some hurdles, but still had good times. He definitely hasn’t peaked yet.”

Kincaid also competes in the triple jump.

“He spends about 20 minutes a week triple jumping and he’s one of the tops in the district,” Hall said.

Hall said Kincaid plans to walk on at the University of Washington in track or try out for the crew team.
