Looking for something to do this Sunday night?
With no high school sports – or any more football – on Sunday, it’s a great time to go see a movie. And there just happens to be a documentary on the King’s boys basketball team premiering at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.
“Saved For A Reason” is the true story of the Knights’ 2014-15 season, which covers King’s run in the state playoffs after a life-threatening crash on the way home from a bi-district playoff game. The hour-long documentary is being shown to the general public, with about 250 tickets remaining.
“It’s a pretty cool deal,” said King’s basketball coach Rick Skeen. “I think you can tell from the trailer, it’s like a 30-for-30 level of production. These are professionals that did this. It’s a cool basketball story, but it’s bigger than that. It’s overcoming adversity. It’s about, what are the priorities in your life? It’s about relationships and caring each other. For anyone that loves a sports documentary, it’s awfully well done by the folks that did it. I’m just excited about it. It’s got a really cool message.”
The movie was done by local film producer Jason Pamer, who received production assistance from over 20 King’s students.
If you’re unable to make it out Sunday night but want to catch the movie fear not! Skeen said the film producers are hoping to get the documentary on iTunes and Hulu soon, as well as release it on DVD and Blu Ray.
Producers also hope to enter “Saved For A Reason” in film festivals.
Tickets for the showing are $7 for adults and $5 for students for general admission seating. They can be purchased by calling the Edmonds Center for the Arts box office at 425-275-9595 or online here.
