MILL CREEK — Freshman standout Yanina Sherwood struck out 15, allowed just two hits over seven innings and doubled at the plate as Jackson blanked Marysville Pilchuck 6-0 in a big matchup of two undefeated Wesco teams on Wednesday afternoon.
Kalia Zellmer went 2-for-4 with a home run, and Amanda Winiger and Leneyah Mitchell each had a triple for Jackson, which won the 4A state title in 2018 and 2019.
Marysville Pilchuck (8-1) entered the game having won eight straight with an average of over 11 runs per game, but couldn’t get anything going on offense against the Timberwolves’ star pitcher.
