Glacier Peak High School has named former interim head coach Shane Keck as its head football coach, athletic director Kevin Judkins announced Thursday.
Keck was the Grizzlies’ interim head coach this past season. He was elevated from defensive coordinator to interim head coach shortly before the season opener, after health issues prompted former head coach Nick Bender to step down.
Keck coached Glacier Peak to a 7-3 record last fall, including a 5-2 mark in Wesco 4A. The Grizzlies finished third in Wesco 4A and advanced to the winner-to-state Week 10 playoffs, where they lost 41-31 to Kentwood.
Keck, a former California community-college defensive coordinator, was Cascade High School’s head coach for three seasons from 2015 to 2017 before stepping down the following spring.
Keck was Glacier Peak’s defensive coordinator for the 2018 season. He was set to remain in that role for 2019 until Bender stepped down.
