Eds. note: This year, The Herald decided to name its Girls Athlete of the Year award in honor of the late Kristi Bartz. Bartz, an Archbishop Murphy student who won the award in 2015 after passing away in May of last year, represented the kind of student-athlete the award was created to honor.
