SHORELINE — Dayton Nickolson struck out eight and allowed no runs on just on hit in six stellar innings as ninth-seeded Mountlake Terrace kepts is season alive with a win over No. 8 Shorecrest in a 3A District 1 Tournament loser-out game.

Griffin Potter went 2-for-2 with three RBI, Talan Zenk had two hits and four stolen bases, and Bede Bresee added two hits for Mountlake Terrace (13-9), which advanced to face top-seeded Snohomish in a non-elimination quarterfinal game at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Snohomish.

Shorecrest ended its season with an overall record of 12-9.

Stanwood 4, Arlington 0

ARLINGTON — Aidan O’Neil struck out seven and allowed just one hit in a dominant shutout on the mound as 10th-seeded Stanwood advanced to the next round with a win over No. 7 Arlington in a 3A District 1 Tournament loser-out game.

Braedon Requa, Treyton Mascarenas and Ryan Cheeseman all drove in runs in a key sixth inning as Stanwood (12-10) padded its lead. The Spartans advanced to face No. 2 Edmonds-Woodway in a non-elimination quarterfinal game at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Edmonds-Woodway.

Eli Jones doubled and Cooper McBride struck out six and allowed just one unearned run on three hits in five strong innings for Arlington, which ended its season with an overall record of 10-11.

SOFTBALL

Wesco 4A

Lake Stevens 10, Kamiak 7

MUKILTEO — Haylee Kim went 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI, and Lake Stevens mounted a huge five-run rally in the top of the seventh inning to erase a two-run deficit and beat Kamiak in a crucial league game.

Rylee Beckham went 3-for-4 with two RBI, Alyssa Waldo finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and Charli Pugmire pitched a scoreless seventh inning to secure the win for Lake Stevens, which remained tied with Glacier Peak (13-3, 3-3 Wesco 4A) for the third and final playoff berth from District 1 with two games remaining. The two teams meet in the season finale next Wednesday.

Tyler Karabach doubled and drove in three runs, and Aliya Boonsripisal and Ally Boulger had two RBI each for Kamiak (17-2, 5-2), which dropped its first game since a loss to Jackson on April 11.

Glacier Peak 23, Mariner 0 (5)

SNOHOMISH — McKellan Hamilton homered and drove in five runs, and Laila Carpenter homered, doubled and had four RBI to lead Glacier Peak to a league win over Mariner.

Faith Jordan drove in three runs, Katelyn McCallum added two RBI and Emma Hirshorn struck out six in the circle for Glacier Peak (13-3, 3-3 Wesco 4A), which remained tied with Lake Stevens for the third and final playoff berth from District 1 with two games remaining. The two teams meet in the season finale next Wednesday.

Danika Molisani and Angela Box each had doubles for Mariner (0-16, 0-7).

Wesco 3A/2A

Snohomish 12, Everett 1 (5)

EVERETT — Bridget Johnson homered, drove in three runs and allowed no runs on just one hit with six strikeouts in three innings pitched as Snohomish clinched at least a share of the league regular-season title with a win over Everett.

Camryn Sage went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Skyla Bristol, Rian Doyle and Kendel Sage added an RBI each for Snohomish (15-3, 13-0 Wesco 3A/2A), which has a two-game lead over Cascade in the league standings with two games to play.

Shayne Hoekendorf doubled and scored a run, and Riannon Botz added a base hit for Everett (9-10, 7-7).

Edmonds-Woodway 6, Shorewood 4

EDMONDS — Mallory Melon went 4-for-4 with two RBI, and Maggie Duffy finished 3-for-3 with an RBI as Edmonds-Woodway earned a league win over Shorewood.

Hazel Mills finished 2-for-4 for Edmonds-Woodway (10-7, 6-7 Wesco 3A/2A).

Shorewood fell to 10-8 overall and 7-7 in league play.

SEDRO-WOOLLEY — Avalon Kummer and Katie Krueger both doubled and scored twice, but Lakewood fell to Sedro-Woolley in a league game.

Emma Joy Wise went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Mary Jo Morales and Avery Hite both singled and scored a run for Lakewood (7-9, 7-6 Northwest).

Sedro-Woolley improved to 15-3 overall and 11-2 in league play.
