Everett Silvertips defensemen Olen Zellweger and Ronan Seeley were among 25 players named to Canada’s junior national team on Monday.

The team starts its six-day training camp Tuesday in Calgary, Alberta, and it opens the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship on Aug. 10 against Latvia in Edmonton, Alberta.

Everett was one of two WHL teams to have two players selected to the team, along with the Kamloops Blazers. Ten WHL players were named to the team overall.

Zellweger, the reigning WHL Defenseman of the Year, racked up 78 points in 55 games for the Silvertips this past season. The 19-year-old was drafted in the second round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks.

Seeley, who turns 20 on Tuesday, accounted for 44 points in 52 games for Everett. He was a seventh-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2020.
