Army Reserve Pfc. Lance R. Nelson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Keith Nelson of Everett and the grandson of Sandra Thomas of Orlando, Fla. Nelson is a 2007 graduate of Mariner High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Carin L. Maddux, a 2007 graduate of Stanwood High School, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
