On the trainer’s table

n First baseman Richie Sexson has a stiff right shoulder and was the DH Saturday.

n Pitcher Brandon Morrow (stiff right shoulder) felt good Saturday and will pitch in a minor league game today. It’ll be his first game action since March 10.

n Infielder/outfielder Willie Bloomquist (tight right quad) will batted in a minor league game Saturday.

n Pitcher Anderson Garcia (inflamed right shoulder) is on a conditioning and throwing program.

Weather

n The temperatures are rising and we’ll be tickling 90 in the next few days. It’ll reach 88 today and 89 Monday.

They said it

n “I saw a couple of numbers that surprised me, but when you’re playing, you don’t think about that paper.”

Second baseman Jose Lopez, who was among M’s hitters given a sheet of statistics showing their batting average last year in various ball-strike counts. Lopez batted .083 when he had a 3-1 count.

They did it

n Kenji Johjima performed double duty Saturday morning when he caught both Felix Hernandez and J.J. Putz in a minor league game between Class AAA Tacoma and AA West Tennessee. Because Hernandez and Putz were pitching for opposing teams, Johjima was behind the plate for 22 straight hitters before he got a chance to sit the bench. Asked why he didn’t get any at-bats in the game, Johjima offered a logical reply: “Too busy.”
