Dr. Al Fisk has been promoted to chief medical officer at The Everett Clinic. Fisk has served as the clinic’s medical director for the past nine years. As medical chief, he will have administrative responsibility for monitoring and ensuring the safety and quality of patient care. Fisk joined The Everett Clinic in 1986 as a primary care internist and became the medical director in January 2000. He has a master’s degree in medical management from Tulane University and a medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Rick Jones has been appointed senior vice president, solutions, at Crane Aerospace &Electronics, a segment of Crane Co. In this role, he will be responsible for business development, engineering, program management, product support and engineering tools and processes for all aerospace group solutions. Jones joined the company in 1984 as a market analyst for ELDEC, one of the companies that currently comprise Crane Aerospace &Electronics, and most recently served as vice president of the sensing and utility systems business for the aerospace group.
Lawyers Jeanine Vhan and Kim Dean have joined the Everett firm of O’Loane Nunn Law Group. Vhan has eight years of experience in family law. Dean recently graduated magna cum laude from Seattle University School of Law. The new additions will help the firm incorporate collaborative dispute resolution techniques to its practice of matrimonial and family law.
Autumn Waite is the new public information officer and public educator for Snohomish County Fire District 7. She is responsible for maintaining the agency’s education programs and for working with the community and the media.
James Kellett, a financial adviser in Everett for Edward Jones, has been appointed to the firm’s grass-roots legislative task force. The group is intended to voice the concerns of individual investors to local, state and national lawmakers. Kellett, who has worked for the company in the Everett area since 1994, will travel to Olympia and the Washington, D.C., in his role on the task force.

A hedge fund manager and an economist will be featured Tuesday on “Getting Your Dough to Rise,” the monthly personal finance show on KSER 90.7 FM, Snohomish County’s public radio station. The hourly show begins at 6 p.m. with host Chuck Noel. Economist James McCusker, a Herald columnist, and Matt Rudolf of Seattle’s Summit Capital Management, will review 2008 and look ahead at 2009.

The Swedish Cancer Institute’s Mobile Mammography Program recently received a $100,000 grant from the Breast Cancer Prevention Fund to help increase access to breast-health technology and expertise for underserved women in hard-to-serve areas of Western Washington. The Breast Cancer Prevention Fund was founded in 2004 in response to the need for affordable mammograms for women in Washington state. Jim Paton, a retired Everett business owner, is executive director of the Fund.

Tax help
United Way of Snohomish County is expanding its free tax preparation and electronic filing services to help more low-income individuals and families claim tax refunds and credits. United Way free tax preparation sites opened Jan. 22. Trained and certified volunteers will be on hand to complete basic income tax returns through April 15. Electronic filing means any refunds an individual or family is owed come back much more quickly, usually within 10 business days. No appointment is necessary. Here are the sites and times: Cedar Valley Community School, 19200 56th Ave. W., Lynnwood, 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays; North Middle School, 2514 Rainier Ave., Everett, 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays; and South Everett Foursquare Church, 206 E.
