Prep Roundup: Arlington wrestlers win

MONROE — Arlington’s wrestling team had no trouble racking up its first win of the Wesco season, taking down Monroe 58-18 Monday night.

The Eagles (1-0 Wesco, 3-1 overall) used eight pins to beat the Bearcats (0-2, 3-2), who had two pins and a forfeit to get them into the scoring column.

Arlington’s Angelo Mirante (160 pounds) needed just 55 seconds to take down the Bearcats’ Tait Hanson in the quickest bout of the night. Seth Henderson (189 pounds) wasn’t far behind, pinning Dylan Judson in 1:37.

Monroe’s Brandon Martin (125 pounds) had the quickest pin of the night for the Bearcats against Ian Davis in 1:28.

Jackson 2, Cascade 1: At Lynnwood, Kari Reynolds (190 game, 486 series) and Allison Stephens (193 game, 208 game, and 506 series) helped Jackson get the victory and improve to 2-2. Cascade (4-1) was led by Tonya Lara (192 game) and Taylor Harrison (212 game, 571 series).

Everett 3, Anacortes 0: At Lynnwood, Jessica Ralfton (188 game, 494 series) and Shelbi Douty (200 game, 540 series) helped Everett (3-1) defeat Anacortes (0-4).

Girls basketball

NW Yeshiva 53, Tulalip Heritage 49: At Marysville, Tulalip Heritage switched to a man-to-man defense in the fourth quarter and made up 15 points of a huge deficit but fell four short of NW Yeshiva. Taylor Barry was the biggest beneficiary of the switch, scoring 17 of her 19 points, including 7-for-7 from the charity stripe. She accounted for all but six of the 23 Tulalip points in the quarter.
