Oil, clay landscapes at Gallery North this month

This October Gallery North presents “Landscapes in Oil and Clay,” a unique collaborative show featuring the paintings and pottery of three Pacific Northwest artists: Anne Moon, Mara Sparks, and Tannis Moore.

Moon, an oil painter and member of Gallery North, prefers painting on wood. Her paintings translate harsh, inhospitable places into soft and flowing seas of color and texture, inviting the browser to immerse themselves in these familiar vistas.

Sparks, also a member of Gallery North and a versatile potter, brings the viewer to a new side of her agateware that is reminiscent of remnants of ancient pottery that have become part of the landscape. The layers of color in her pieces suggest fluid scenes of mountains, plains, and valleys.

Painter Tannis Moore enjoys plein air painting and has developed a close connection to nature while operating a nursery and landscape business. Her paintings reflect an emotional recollection of a scene and the understanding of a world that is continually transitioning in light and color.

The public is invited to meet the artists at during the Edmonds Art Walk Oct. 15. Refreshments will be served.

“Landscapes in Oil and Clay” will be on display through Oct. 31.
