Mountlake Terrace: New police volunteer
Mountlake Terrace recently welcomed its newest reserve officer, Justin Mettler.
He was administered the oath of office by Police Chief Greg Wilson at a City Council meeting June 6. The chief described him as enthusiastic and dedicated.
Mettler completed more than 230 hours of training and was the top academic performer in his class, police Sgt. Steve Sheets said.
Mountlake Terrace typically has about 10 part-time volunteer reserve officers.
Everett: Seeking Lowell photos, stories
The Lowell neighborhood is gearing up for its 150th birthday in 2013. Organizers of the celebration plan a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Gail Chism, 4601 S. 4th Ave.
Organizers are looking for help plus any historical photos or stories about Lowell.

Lynnwood: Take a tour of the trolley
The Lynnwood Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is offering a trolley open house Saturdays this summer for visitors to Heritage Park, 19921 Poplar Way. Open houses will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 2, Aug. 6 and Sept. 3.
Tour guides will be available to show visitors Interurban Car 55, provide historical details and recall stories of the Interurban Railway. No reservations are necessary and tours are free.
Interurban Car 55 is one of six electric interurban cars that made daily runs between Seattle and Everett from 1910 to 1939. In 1996, the City of Lynnwood began restoring the old car and relocated it to Heritage Park, where it stands today as the park’s centerpiece.

Monroe: Sky Valley schools need teachers
The Sky Valley Community Schools are looking for residents who are interested in teaching next fall.
People do not need to be certified or have experience. They do need to have special interests or skills to teach. Classes could be gardening, arts, travel or finances. Sky Valley Community is a program offering evening adult classes in Park Place Middle School. The fall session is from late September to mid-December.
People interested need to send their class details by July 5 so it can be advertised.
