San Juan Island derby

The high-end Resurrection Blackmouth Derby out of Friday Harbor is scheduled for Dec. 2-3. The event features a first-place cash prize of $10,000 and is limited to 100 teams of up to four anglers per boat, at an entry fee of $400.
The total purse is $15,000.
Executive committee member Jimmy Lawson described the event as “… a serious winter derby for serious salmon anglers; the best of the best.”
The derby was scheduled to coincide with the opening of the Marine Area 7 selective winter season, which normally offers excellent fishing in the islands.
