ARLINGTON — Kyle Bayer scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Arlington to a 3-2 victory over Shorewood in an elimination game in the 3A District 1 baseball tournament on Wednesday.
Down to its last out, Arlington scored two runs on just one hit to eliminate the Thunderbirds.
A single started the Arlington rally, and runners advanced to first and second on a four-pitch walk.
Leadoff man Gavin Rork hit a grounder to second base that was bobbled and thrown over the third baseman’s head in an attempt to force out Trevor Kazen, who scored the game-tying run.
Bayer dashed home on a pitch to the backstop to win the game.
The Eagles (15-8), will face Marysville Pilchuck in the consolation final on Saturday afternoon for the district’s final state playoff berth.
Tanner Oxnevad doubled and scored a run for Shorewood, which finished its season 14-9.
