Poll results: Pessimism regarding UW women’s basketball

It seems many believe the death knell is ringing for University of Washington women’s basketball as a force on the national stage.

This week’s reader poll was about assessing the Huskies following their string of high-profile departures this month, beginning with star players Kelsey Plum and Chantel Osahor graduating, then followed by head coach Mike Neighbors leaving for Arkansas. Given those losses, can Washington remain relevant?

The bar was set at 20 wins for next season — the Huskies managed that the two years prior to Neighbors taking over in 2013-14. Here’s how responders voted:

As you can see, there wasn’t a lot of optimism regarding the Huskies’ chances next season.

It seems that new coach Jody Wynn and burgeoning star point guard Aarion McDonald have their work cut out to restore the faith of the local fan base.
