Officials identify woman who died at Wallace Falls

GOLD BAR — An 18-year-old woman who apparently fell over Wallace Falls on Wednesday has been identified as Haylei N. Hughes, of Las Vegas.

She died from blunt force injuries, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Hughes, a local community college student, was visiting Wallace Falls State Park. Her friends said they had climbed over a railing to cross the river.

They called 911 after hearing a scream and a splash.

Hughes’ body was found Thursday in the North Fork of the Wallace River.
