Two full weekends remain to visit the free, annual Skagit Eagle Festival on the Skagit River in Concrete, Rockport and Marblemount.
Here are a few spots you might want to hit:
— Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center at Howard Miller Steelhead Park in Rockport. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Learn about eagles, watershed issues and local natural and cultural history.
— Forest Service Eagle Watcher Stations, Saturday and Sunday through Jan. 21, three stations. Eagle watcher volunteers answer questions about bald eagles, salmon and the Skagit watershed. Good-quality spotting scopes available.
— Deep Forest Experience, from 8 a.m. to dusk Friday through Sunday. Free guided tours hourly from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Old-growth forest on 670 acres of Rockport State Park, at the foot of Sauk Mountain.
— Skagit River Eagle Viewing and Photography Tours. Skagit River Eagle Tours in Marblemount, three hours, heated drift boats. Reservations are required (888-675-2448).
