SHORELINE — Eric Sowards threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Devil Gilbert on the final play of the game, but Shorewood stopped Cascade’s two-point try and the Stormrays won 23-22 on Wednesday and advanced to face Arlington in a crossover game at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Shorewood took the lead with a touchdown with under a minute to play in the game before Cascade marched back down the field for the thrilling finish.

Shorewood (5-4) had to defend the Wesco 3A South’s No. 5 seed from Cascade (8-1), which played an independent schedule but earned the shot at a crossover gam by virtue of winning its first eight games.

The winner of the Shorewood-Arlington game will advance to the Week 10 playoffs.
